Tõravere, Tartu Observatoorium / Tartu Observatory

Tõraveres asuv Tartu Observatoorium lasi graafik Rein Maantoal ja skulptor Bruno Kadakul valmistada u 700 kg kaaluva ning 112 cm kõrge päikesekella observatooriumihoone ehitamise 50. aastapäevaks (loe lähemalt...). Pronksist valatud kell on asetatud betoonist alusele. Tegemist on ekvatoriaalse päikesekellaga, mille numbrilaud on paralleelne ekvaatori tasapinnaga ning põhja suunatud osuti sellega risti.

Artists Rein Maantoa and Bruno Kadak made the sundial for the 50th anniversary of the observatory building in Tõravere. The weight of the sundial is 700 kg and its height is 112 cm. Bronze dial is placed on the column, which is made of concrete. The sundial itself is designed and installed by the specialists of the observatory. Equatorial sundial's plate is parallel to the equatorial plane and the polar-pointing gnomon is perpendicular to it.
