I was visiting opening ceremony of the sundial of Priekuli by Latvian dialist Martins Gills (http://www.saulespulkstenis.lv/). School children were singing, speeches were delivered, and Martins was having a lecture about sundials after dinner. Thank you, Martins!
Martins Gills
Priekuli nn inimpäikesekell ise on väga vahva ja kujutab naeratavat päikest - vasak silm näitab kaugusi sõpruslinnadesse, parem silm ilmakaari, ninaks on kuupäevade skaala ja suuks Priekuli logo.
Priekuli's analemmatic sundial or 'participation' sundial, as Martins puts it, is a smiling sun - the left eye shows the distances to the important places, the right eye is a compass, the nose is the date scale and the mouth is Priekulis name graved in granite stone.
Nina - kuupäevade skaala / The nose - date scale.

Samal päeval külastasime ka teisi Läti päikesekelli. Põhja-Lätis on nende konsentratsioon üsna suur / I was visiting 5 other sundials in North Latvia on the same day.
